We think beauty is seen in fashion mags,
All flaws edited away to nothing,
Check the mirror and see how it compares,
Believe the lie
True beauty is in a person’s spirit,
It is seen in the way they love people,
It shows itself in times of trial,
Discredit the lie
Break free from the comparisons,
Your beauty is in being your true self,
In presenting your gifts to the world,...

Waking Up
Coffee is brewed as the day starts
The aroma itself starts to wake me up
In a helpful pavlovian response
Consuming the spirit of the beans
You catch a little of the farmers
Their labor enabling mine
Drinking down the warm beverage
Jump starting my body and mind to life
Maybe I will be productive today
As the caffeine kicks in
I realize its Sunday
And I will be lazy all day

To Grieve
Tears pour off his face
Like a fierce rain
Coming from deep within his soul
Struggling to find words
For the pain consuming his being
He lets out a cry from the depths
Life isn’t meant to be like this!
Crumbling under the weight
Of that crushing thought
He collapses in a heap
With a despair of having no answers
He gathers his remaining energy
And looks to the sky and yells
